    Single or dual heat exchangers The Stiebel Eltron SB/SBB series water heaters are indirectly fired and are equipped with either one or two large heat exchangers. The heat exchangers are heavy gauge steel with procelain enamel coating.

    Flexible options The models with a single heat exchanger can be used for solar applications with some form of external backup heater. On the models with dual heat exchangers, the upper coil is typically connected to a space heating boiler fired by any fuel and the lower coil is connected to the solar panels.

    Multiple uses. All Stiebel Eltron SB/SBB series water heaters can also be used as high capacity indirectly fired water heaters in conjunction with any type of heating boiler.

    The iSolar™ BX is a multi-functional temperature differential controller with add-on system functions for use in a wide variety of solar thermal heating applications. iSolar™ BX is equipped with four relay outputs; three triac pump speed control relays and one standard relay. These outputs include two pulse width modulation (PWM) outputs that enable energy conservation measures for high-effi ciency direct current (DC) pumps. The controller is equipped with fi ve Pt1000 sensor inputs, two analog Grundfos sensor inputs, and one impulse fl ow meter input. Twenty six system confi guration options are predefi ned for control of a standard solar water heating system, drainback systems, supplemental space heating, multiple storage tanks, heat dump and storage tank booster heating.

    The Steca Suntana solar thermal controller is another member of our solar thermal controller family. The controller monitors and controls solar thermal systems with one collector array, one storage tank and alternatively with an appropriate back-up heating or circulation pump.

    Apart from controlling the solar energy system, the controller also performs important system monitoring and safety functions. The system parameters and measured values can be viewed and modified via a 2 x 16-digit LCD display. The amount of solar energy fed from the collector array into the storage tank can be read from the LCD display at any time, thanks to a volumetric flow meter with pulse output. The controller has a maximum of five inputs for temperature measurement, a digital pulse input for recording heat quantity, and two outputs for controlling pumps. A programmable timer with selectable switching times for controlling a solar circuit pump is integrated into the controller. Installation mistakes are avoided from the very beginning through the automatic recognition of the temperature sensors. The components delivered with the controller include one collector temperature sensor and two storage tank sensors.
